If you’ve spent any time around Derby’s alternative scene, you’ve probably come across Rollersnakes. It’s more than just a skate shop. For years, it has been a pillar of the city’s underground culture, supporting skaters, artists and creatives while staying true to its DIY roots. Based on Mansfield Road at the Parker Industrial Estate, Rollersnakes is a place where people come to buy decks, hang out, and be part of a scene that’s been quietly shaping Derby’s street identity for decades.

The store itself is packed with everything a skater could need, from boards, wheels and bearings to a huge range of streetwear and shoes. But what really sets it apart is the atmosphere. Walk inside and you’ll find a space that feels authentic, built by skaters for skaters. It’s not polished or corporate, it’s gritty, real and full of character. The shop’s layout mixes retail with rideable elements, including “The Vault,” an indoor ramp setup that lets visitors test out gear or just have a quick session when the weather turns. For those who prefer outdoor skating, “The Tracks” area adds curbs, rails, benches and other obstacles to keep things interesting, while “The Crypt” provides a smaller indoor zone for practising tricks and filming lines.

Rollersnakes has always taken pride in being independent and deeply involved in the local community. It’s not unusual to see them sponsoring local events, working with Derby’s younger skaters, or backing grassroots projects like the new indoor skatepark being developed at the Eagle Market. The team behind Rollersnakes has been part of the UK skate scene for years, and their store reflects that heritage, combining experience with a genuine love for the culture. It’s one of the few places left that feels like a proper skate shop, not just a retailer.

Visiting Rollersnakes is as much about connection as it is about shopping. Whether you’re there to grab a new deck, hit a ramp, or just chat with the crew, it’s a space that captures everything great about Derby’s creative underground. It’s where new skaters find their first setup, where locals come to film lines, and where the city’s skate culture keeps its heart beating strong.
