About Us

TREИDNG is an independent music, skate, art and culture platform. We come from Derby, and the city is a huge part of what we cover, but our aim reaches well beyond it: to give grassroots scenes and independent creatives a platform wherever we find them.

We cover bands, artists, skaters, promoters, venues and the people who make things happen. That might mean being in the crowd at a small Derby gig, visiting an independent festival elsewhere in the UK or speaking to an established act with a story worth telling. We’re interested in the whole picture, from someone’s first show to the artists who have spent years building an audience.

What we cover

Music sits at the heart of TREИDNG. We publish gig reviews, festival coverage, interviews and stories about the people and places behind live music. We also cover skateboarding, visual art, performance and the creative communities that bring these worlds together.

Derby and the East Midlands appear often because they’re home. We know there’s plenty happening on our doorstep, and we want more people to see it. At the same time, great independent culture isn’t limited to one city. If a story takes us further afield, we follow it.

Why we do it

Grassroots scenes run on people putting in the work: bands rehearsing after their day jobs, promoters taking a chance on a line-up, venues opening their doors and audiences turning up. We want to tell their stories and help more people discover what they’re doing.

Established artists are part of that conversation too. They can draw people towards a festival, a venue or a scene, and we’re just as keen to cover them when there’s something interesting to say. What matters to us is giving each story the attention it deserves.

Get involved

Got a band we should hear, a gig we should attend, a project we should visit or a story we’ve missed? Tell us about it. We want to hear from artists, skaters, venues, promoters, photographers, writers and anyone else doing something worth sharing.

You can also submit an article or idea through SET TREИDS. Whether you’re just starting out or have been doing this for years, we’d like to hear from you.
