This Feeling has announced the line-up for By The Sea 2027, with The Guest List and The Rosadocs heading to Bridlington Spa for two days of emerging indie and alternative music. Taking place on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 April, the festival’s fifth edition also features M60, The Slates, Tom A. Smith, Spangled and The Leazes, with Fenners hosting and DJs and after-parties extending the weekend beyond the live sets.

Manchester five-piece The Guest List headline Friday, following the release of their debut album Something Real in August. Their melodic guitar sound has increasingly made room for heavier subject matter, with the record exploring anxiety, mental health, domestic violence and the pressures facing their generation. For anyone who first encountered them through ‘Loose Tongue’ or ‘London’, By The Sea offers a chance to hear where that early promise has taken them. Sheffield’s The Rosadocs take Saturday’s headline slot, putting another band with a following built through live shows at the top of the bill.

There is plenty happening further down the poster, too. M60’s anthemic Manchester indie sits alongside the grooves and psychedelic influences of Yorkshire’s The Slates, while Sunderland songwriter Tom A. Smith adds a name already familiar from festival appearances and support slots with the likes of Sam Fender and Elton John. Spangled, CUSP, The Cases, Marseille, The Publics, The Rolling People and The Lilacs are among the other acts announced, giving audiences good reason to spend some time with the full bill before April arrives.

For TREИDNG, the announcement follows a summer in which we got to enjoy This Feeling’s stage at Y Not. Those smaller festival stages deserve attention: they give people somewhere to stumble across an unfamiliar name, see what happens and leave with another band to follow. Behind each of those slots is a decision to give an artist an opportunity, and that has been central to This Feeling’s work for two decades.

Founded in 2006, the promoter has grown across grassroots gigs, club nights, festival stages and This Feeling Records. Founder Mikey Jonns has described the frustration that helped shape its festival programme: seeing a band fill local venues and still struggle to get a break at a major event. When the opportunity came to host a stage at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2015, he used it to give acts from those grassroots shows a route onto a bigger platform. Artists who have appeared on that stage during their development include The K’s, Crawlers, The Royston Club, The Amazons and Red Rum Club.

That work matters when so much of the conversation around festivals concentrates on the same established headliners. New bands need somewhere to build towards, and getting onto a festival bill can introduce them to people well beyond their usual circuit. This Feeling has made those opportunities a consistent part of what it does, including for artists without booking agents. By The Sea puts that approach at the centre of an entire weekend, with rising acts getting the prominent slots as well as the early ones.

Having enjoyed their corner of Y Not, we will be watching how this line-up develops. There are already plenty of names worth the trip to Bridlington, alongside others that could become the reason you are glad you went.

This Feeling By The Sea takes place at Bridlington Spa on 9–10 April 2027. Tickets and the announced line-up are available through the official website.
