Bloodstock’s Winter Gathering returns to KK’s Steel Mill in Wolverhampton on Saturday 5 December 2026, with Rotting Christ heading a bill that spans black metal, crossover thrash, slam and doom. Running across two stages, the event gives the Bloodstock crowd another chance to get together before the year ends, with 11 bands, signing sessions and a few suitably ridiculous festive extras.

For Derby metal fans, the indoor setting has a connection to where Bloodstock began. Before the festival became an outdoor fixture at Catton Park, its first edition took place at Derby Assembly Rooms in 2001. Organisers Paul Gregory and Vince Brotheridge launched it as an indoor event, with Saxon headlining. The Winter Gathering takes place in a different city, but gathering a metal audience under one roof is firmly part of Bloodstock’s history.

The first Winter Gathering took place on 6 December 2025, also at KK’s Steel Mill. Candlemass topped that inaugural bill during their 40th anniversary year, joined by Venom Inc., Hellripper, Raised By Owls and more. This December marks its second edition, establishing another meeting point between Bloodstock’s summer weekends.

Greek black metal pioneers Rotting Christ headline the main stage this time, with a set billed as celebrating “35 years of evil existence”. Their dark, atmospheric approach provides the closing attraction on a programme with plenty of changes in pace and personality. Ukrainian outfit 1914 are another notable inclusion, using blackened death metal and themes drawn from the First World War to create music with considerable weight behind it.

Pest Control offer a more direct collision of hardcore and thrash. The Leeds band are an appealing prospect for anyone who likes their riffs fast and their sets confrontational, while Party Cannon add Scottish slam and a very different visual identity to the afternoon. It is a pairing that should give the front of the room plenty to work with.

The main stage also features Nottingham pirate metallers Red Rum, alongside the slower, heavier pull of Witchsorrow’s doom. Square Wild open proceedings with their eclectic mix of progressive sounds and punk influences. Between them, the seven main stage acts cover a broad stretch of heavy music, giving early arrivals plenty of reason to settle in for the day.

Shrapnel headline the second stage, adding another substantial dose of British thrash. They are joined by doom and death metal outfit The Crawling, Moon Reaper and Staffordshire punks Head Dent. That stage also hosts a live Q&A with Bloodstock’s management, giving fans an opportunity to put questions directly to the people organising the festival.

Away from the sets, S’tanta’s Grotto, giveaways, band signings and the returning snow machine keep the Christmas party element intact. With established names and smaller acts sharing the programme, Winter Gathering offers a manageable day of discovery as well as another opportunity to catch some favourites.

Bloodstock Winter Gathering takes place at KK’s Steel Mill, Wolverhampton, on Saturday 5 December 2026. Doors open at 2pm, with live music scheduled from 3pm until 11pm. Tickets are listed at £55 plus booking fees. Find details through the official Winter Gathering page.
