If you’re anything like me, you’ve spent the last couple of weeks glued to videos from Outbreak Festival. Every other reel seems to be another sea of stage divers, pile-ons and circle pits, followed by turning to your girlfriend every five minutes and saying, “Look how fucking cool this is.”

On Saturday 18th July, Sonic Waves Vol. #3 arrives at Dubrek Studios, bringing a night of uncompromising hardcore to Derby. It might be a grassroots show in a small independent venue, but that’s exactly where this music belongs. Hardcore has always thrived in intimate spaces where the line between the band and the audience barely exists.

Promoted by Riffriot Promotions, the night features Torment, Swarms, Hatebound, Fakeout and M.O.T, delivering a stacked evening of breakdowns, two-steps and the kind of energy that leaves everyone dripping with sweat by the end of the night.

Outbreak Festival may have once again reminded the world just how exciting hardcore has become, but scenes aren’t built by festivals alone. They’re built in venues like Dubrek, where local promoters take risks, touring bands squeeze into DIY spaces and crowds turn up ready to throw themselves into every song.

Dubrek Studios has quietly become one of Derby’s most important homes for alternative music, regularly hosting everything from punk and metal to experimental noise and indie. Sonic Waves continues that tradition, giving hardcore fans a chance to experience the genre exactly as it was meant to be experienced: up close, loud and completely unfiltered.

Advance tickets are available now for £7 plus booking fees, with any remaining tickets available on the door for £10 cash.

Whether you’ve been following hardcore for years or you’ve recently found yourself watching stage-dive compilations on repeat, Sonic Waves Vol. #3 is shaping up to be one of those nights that reminds everyone why grassroots venues are the lifeblood of heavy music.
