Saturday night at Dubrek Studios in Derby delivered one of the most exciting local gigs of the summer. The occasion marked Blood Circuit’s first live performance, supported by the powerful two-piece Atomic Tide. With a strong turnout and an electric atmosphere, this was grassroots live music at its very best.

The evening kicked off at 8pm with Atomic Tide, a band that instantly set the tone. A stripped-back two-piece in formation, they more than compensated with sheer volume and energy. With the drummer also taking on lead vocals, and a guitarist who filled the space with heavy riffs and searing solos, Atomic Tide drew inevitable comparisons to Royal Blood. The sound was raw and loud, but never sloppy-garage rock with bite. Their set combined punchy hooks, dirty solos and relentless rhythms, making them the perfect opener to get the crowd moving. By the end of their slot, the audience was buzzing and primed for what was to come.

Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for: Blood Circuit’s debut performance. From the first chord, it was clear this wasn’t going to be just another local gig-it was a full-blown statement. Mixing elements of hardcore punk, heavy metal and screamo, the band tore into their set with ferocity. The lead singer impressed with his ability to shift between soulful, melodic passages and gut-wrenching screams, a contrast that added layers of intensity to the performance.

The crowd responded in kind. Within minutes, a circle pit had opened up, with plenty of moshing breaking out across the floor. Dubrek’s intimate space made the experience all the more visceral-there was no separation between band and audience, just a shared surge of energy and noise. For a debut show, Blood Circuit looked and sounded like a band already at home on stage.

By the time their set closed, the room was buzzing with adrenaline. Conversations quickly turned to when and where Blood Circuit will play next. If this gig was anything to go by, they are a band to watch on the UK live music circuit, with the potential to carve out a name for themselves in Derby and beyond.

Saturday night at Dubrek Studios was more than just another gig-it was the birth of a band, the start of a journey, and proof once again that Derby’s underground scene is alive and thriving.
