On 19th October, Derby will host one of the most uncompromising figures in professional wrestling today. Mickie Knuckles, the American deathmatch legend, is set to face BlueShe at KCW’s season finale, Fight of the Living Dead — a contest guaranteed to deliver chaos, drama, and unforgettable moments.

From Kentucky to the World Stage

Currently based in Kentucky, Knuckles’ home location has played an important role in shaping her career. Positioned centrally between the Midwest, South and East of the United States, it has allowed her to seize more opportunities, even if it means enduring gruelling road trips. “Usually I will drive over 12 hours for most shows,” she admits. “It’s allowed for more possibilities.”

Choosing the Hardest Path

Knuckles is best known for her fearless approach to deathmatch wrestling — a style defined by broken glass, barbed wire, and sheer endurance. But her reason for stepping into such a brutal world runs deeper than spectacle.

“I fight men and women in hazardous materials,” she explains. “I knew I had to make myself something unique and wanted to show anyone could do anything no matter what it was — and figured deathmatches would be the most extreme of that path.”

This decision has seen her become one of the most recognisable names in the field, breaking boundaries and expectations alike.

Record-Breaking Success

Amongst her many highlights, one moment stands out above the rest: beating Nick Gage to claim her 11th deathmatch tournament victory, tying her at the very top for most wins in history. “Winning number 11 of deathmatch tournaments to tie in top place for the most wins after beating Nick Gage,” she recalls, “was a standout moment.”

The Price of Passion

Her journey has not come without its sacrifices. Time spent away from her children, coupled with the toll of injuries, remain the hardest aspects of her career. “The time away from my kids and the injuries have been the most challenging part of my career path,” she says candidly.

Despite this, her fire is fuelled by inspiration from figures like the late wrestling legend Tracy Smothers, and over the years, her in-ring style has evolved. “I’ve relaxed and become more myself, more comfortable in my own skin,” she reflects.

Eyes on the Horizon

Even with history-making wins behind her, Knuckles isn’t finished yet. “I’m trying to add some international wins to that list and work my way up to the who’s who of this community,” she says. Her upcoming clash with BlueShe in Derby is another step on that path, bringing her brutal, uncompromising style to a new audience.

Beyond the Blood

Knuckles’ message goes beyond violence. Through her work, she hopes to inspire audiences and break down barriers. “I hope they have fun and forget about their troubles for a minute,” she says, “as well as it destroys any sexist thoughts that just because of your gender you’re limited.”

But for those in Derby on 19th October, the best way to experience her is live, as she takes on BlueShe at KCW’s Fight of the Living Dead — the season finale that promises blood, intensity, and one of the most talked-about nights in British wrestling this year.
