By K Futur LOCALAfter a decade in the shadows, PUNKS AGAINST CANCER storms back into Derby across the May bank holiday weekend, bringing with it three days of relentless energy, community spirit, and a line-up stacked with serious pedigree. Taking over The Hairy Dog from 1–3 May 2026, this is more than just a festival-it’s a statement.
Organised by Peter Gale and powered by passion, the event unites 27 bands across three days, all with one shared mission: raising vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Every ticket sold, every pint poured, every raffle ticket bought contributes to a cause that touches countless lives across the UK.
And if you needed another reason to go-this is shaping up to be one of Derby’s most electric weekends of the year.
Three Days. 27 Bands. Absolute Chaos (The Good Kind)
Forget genre boundaries-PUNKS AGAINST CANCER 2026 is a full-throttle celebration of alternative music culture. Punk is the backbone, but expect a rich mix of ska, rockabilly, and even heavy metal, all colliding across one unforgettable weekend.
From the second doors open, it’s pure movement:
moshing at the front, skanking in the middle, pints in the air, voices gone by midnight.

Friday 1 May (Doors 6:30pm)
The weekend kicks off hard with Popes of Chillitown bringing their signature high-energy ska-punk chaos. Expect bouncing floors, relentless rhythms, and a crowd that doesn’t stop moving.
They’re joined by the groove-heavy sounds of Dakka Skanks, alongside The Skarantinos, Headstone Horrors, and Roadkill Drive-Thru-a stacked opening night that sets the tone immediately.
Saturday 2 May (Doors 1:30pm)
Saturday is a monster.
Legendary Scottish punks The Skids headline, bringing decades of influence and the kind of anthems that turn crowds into choirs. If “Into the Valley” hits, expect absolute scenes.
Backing them up is a relentless bill featuring Cyanide Pills, The Insane, The Reverends, and a host of rising and local acts. It’s a full-day deep dive into punk’s past, present, and future-loud, fast, and unapologetic.
Sunday 3 May (Doors 1:30pm)
Closing the weekend in style, Theatre of Hate take the headline slot, fronted by the unmistakable presence of Kirk Brandon. Expect intensity, atmosphere, and a crowd hanging on every note.
They’re joined by the explosive The Zipheads, plus a stacked lineup including Drongos for Europe, Suckerpunch, Urban Elite, and more-ensuring the final day hits just as hard as the first.
More Than a Festival-A Community
Beyond the music, this is what grassroots culture is all about.
- Daily raffles packed with vinyl, merch, and tickets
- Two bars keeping things flowing all weekend
- A games room and large outdoor area for when you need five minutes before diving back in
- Food truck on-site to keep you fuelled between sets
It’s the kind of weekend where strangers become mates, bands become favourites, and memories get made in every corner of the venue.

Supporting Macmillan Cancer Support
At its core, PUNKS AGAINST CANCER is about making a difference.
Macmillan Cancer Support provides essential emotional, practical, and financial support to people affected by cancer across the UK-from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. Every penny of profit from this festival goes directly to helping that mission continue.
So while you’re in the pit, pint in hand, shouting lyrics back at the stage-you’re also part of something genuinely meaningful.
