The final night of Delta Echo Fest 2026 landed exactly where it should-inside the walls of The Victoria Inn, one of Derby’s most important grassroots music venues. After four days of non-stop live music, collaboration and city-wide energy, Saturday 28th March closed the festival in a way that perfectly summed up what this scene is all about.

Delta Echo Fest has never been about one promoter or one venue. It is built on collaboration. This year saw Alpha Pro Creative, Fuzz Music Services, Musik Box, The Indie Night, Third Eye Live Events, Mr Shaw’s House, The Hairy Dog and The Vic Inn all come together to deliver something bigger than the sum of its parts. A proper showcase of Derby’s talent, alongside bands from further afield, all sharing stages, crowds and moments across the city.

By the time doors opened at The Vic for the final night, there was already a sense that something had built across the week. And when the room filled out early, it was clear this was going to be one of those nights.

A Last-Minute Change That Worked Perfectly

Live music rarely goes exactly to plan. One band dropped out last minute, which meant a reshuffle across the entire bill. But this is where grassroots scenes thrive.

Gez and the team moved quickly, pulling in The Dissociates as a late addition. It could have thrown the night off. Instead, it made it.

The Dissociates Set the Tone

Opening the night, The Dissociates came in with a heavy, grunge-driven sound that immediately locked people in. Tracks like Give Me Back My Nintendo Wii had that raw, tongue-in-cheek energy, but there was real depth behind it too.

There is something refreshing about this band. No ego, no overthinking. Just a group of young lads who clearly love making noise together.

A cover of Floyd the Barber leaned fully into their heavier side, while moments throughout the set nodded towards the darker textures of Alice in Chains. Then they flipped it again with Kiss Me Softly, bringing in a slightly more nu-metal edge.

They closed in style, blending a cover of Drain You into their outro, using that iconic breakdown to introduce the band before launching back into the final chorus. Smart, loud and properly engaging.

A great start.

Mantle Bring Indie Grit and Big Energy

Mantle stepped up next and shifted the night into a different gear. A five-piece with a heavy indie and garage rock sound, they carried that distorted, bass-driven punch that immediately fills a room.

There were shades of Royal Blood in the tone-crunchy basslines, choppy riffs and a tight rhythm section that kept everything locked in. The crowd responded straight away, clapping along and feeding off the energy.

Their cover of Helicopter landed exactly as you would hope, one of those tracks that always hits live. Then they showed a different side, easing things down with a slower, more atmospheric track that built beautifully.

By the time they launched into Go with the Flow, the room was fully with them. It was loud, loose and exactly what a Saturday night at The Vic should sound like.

The Wednesday Incident Add Style and Precision

Next up, The Wednesday Incident brought something completely different again. That is one of the strengths of Delta Echo Fest. No two sets feel the same.

Leaning into rockabilly and classic rock influences, their sound carried a slightly cinematic edge. At times it felt like a western soundtrack drifting through a Derby pub, which is not something you say often.

The dual vocal approach worked brilliantly, both guitarists sharing singing duties and complementing each other throughout. A cover of Where Do You Think You’re Going? showed off their musicality, while their original material leaned into funkier, more danceable territory.

They closed with Time To Go, bringing each member in one by one as the frontman introduced them. It was uplifting, tight and genuinely fun to watch. There were flashes of Gipsy Kings and Eagles in there, but still something very much their own.

Blood Circuit Close the Festival in Heavy Style

With the reshuffle, Blood Circuit stepped into the headline slot. And they did not waste it.

From the first note, it was ferocious. Proper heavy metal, played loud enough to shake the walls of The Vic. The vocals were powerful, the rhythm section hit hard, and the lead guitar work was packed with sharp, confident solos.

It did not take long for the crowd to respond. A mosh pit opened early, and at one point even turned into a small circle pit, something you do not always see in a venue this size.

There is something timeless about a band that just leans fully into heavy metal without compromise. Blood Circuit did exactly that and absolutely owned the room.

Having seen them before, this felt like a step up. Bigger, tighter and more confident. A headline performance that properly closed the night and the festival.

A Festival That Represents Derby at Its Best

As the final notes rang out, that was it. Delta Echo Fest 2026 was done.

Four days of music across multiple venues. Dozens of artists. Different genres, different crowds, different atmospheres. But all connected by one thing-a shared commitment to grassroots music in Derby.

From acoustic sets at Mr Shaw’s House to full-volume chaos at The Hairy Dog, and finally to a packed-out send-off at The Victoria Inn, this festival showed exactly what can happen when promoters and venues work together instead of competing.

A massive shout to everyone involved, especially Gez, who somehow managed to be everywhere at once, sorting logistics and even performing along the way.

Delta Echo Fest is not just another event. It is a snapshot of a city’s music culture in motion.

And if this year is anything to go by, Derby’s grassroots scene is not slowing down any time soon.

Roll on 2027.
