There are moments in a city’s cultural timeline that feel genuinely important. Not hyped, not manufactured, but real turning points.…
By K Futur LOCALDerby’s grassroots culture continues to evolve at serious pace, and on Saturday 11 April, Dubrek Studios becomes the epicentre of that movement with Day and Night-a multi-layerled underground rap event blending music, fashion, and art into one all-day, all-night experience.
Running from 5pm through to late, this isn’t just another gig. It’s a snapshot of what’s happening right now at street level in Derby-raw, unfiltered, and driven entirely by the city’s DIY creative community.
A Line-Up Built for the Underground
Headlining the night is Vext, leading a stacked bill that dives deep into underground rap, rage trap, and experimental hip hop. Supporting performances come from AB’K, SCARFSOUJA, TYATRON, DYINFORREVENGE, VITAL JAZZY and Faneto Kai-a line-up that reflects the diversity and edge of Derby’s emerging sound.
Expect high-energy sets, distorted 808s, aggressive flows, and genre-blurring production-the kind of sound that thrives outside the mainstream and lives in packed-out rooms like Dubrek.
With DJs spinning throughout the night, Day and Night is shaping up to be less of a traditional gig and more of a continuous party-one that moves seamlessly between live performances and late-night sets.
More Than Music: Fashion and Art Collide
What sets Day and Night apart is its commitment to showcasing the wider creative ecosystem around the music.
Alongside the performances, the event will feature a curated line-up of local fashion designers and artists pushing Derby’s underground aesthetic forward.
On the fashion side, expect standout pieces from soar (Mason Toone)-a name already gaining traction following recent coverage on TRENDNG-alongside skullsallonyou, bringing raw, DIY streetwear energy rooted in skate and hip hop culture.
The visual art offering is just as strong, with Zah Zah Binks (Brandon Morris)-another artist recently featured by TRENDNG-presenting work that reflects Derby’s skate and street culture through a distinct, recognisable lens. They’re joined by marin8ted and Saarinen Art, adding further depth with styles that range from experimental to contemporary underground.
From clothing rails to original pieces on display, this is a rare opportunity to experience Derby’s creative scene in one space-where music, fashion and art all feed into each other.
It’s not polished, commercial or curated for mass appeal-and that’s exactly the point. This is grassroots culture as it actually exists: experimental, collaborative and unapologetically independent.

Dubrek Studios: Derby’s Cultural Hub
There’s a reason Dubrek Studios continues to host events like this.
Part live venue, part creative hub, part daytime coffee spot, Dubrek has become one of the most important spaces for alternative culture in Derby-supporting everything from bands and DJs to poets, artists and independent creators.
Events like Day and Night highlight exactly why spaces like this matter. They give emerging talent a platform, bring different creative scenes together, and build a sense of community that you simply don’t get from larger, more commercial venues.
Tickets and Entry
Tickets for Day and Night are available now, priced at £6 online and £7 on the door-making it one of the most accessible underground events in the city this spring.

Why This Event Matters
If you want to understand where Derby’s culture is heading-not where it’s been-this is the event to be at.
Day and Night isn’t about big names or polished production. It’s about energy, experimentation and expression. It’s about giving a platform to artists who are building something real, right now, in their own way.
For fans of underground rap, rage trap and experimental hip hop, it’s a no-brainer. But even beyond the music, it’s an opportunity to connect with the wider creative movement happening across Derby’s skate, fashion and art scenes.
This is Derby at street level. Loud, creative, and very much alive
