In the heart of Derby, a city steeped in industrial heritage and quietly bubbling with creative energy, Rise Again Photography is steadily building a name as one of the region’s most exciting photographic talents. Led by a self-taught creative who “sort of fell into photography” by tagging along on forest shoots with a mate, Rise Again Photography has transformed a casual curiosity into a distinctive visual style that resonates across music, product and commercial projects.

“I am currently based in Derby, East Midlands,” he says. “Derby has a large number of creative opportunities but the biggest part of my career is due to the broad music scene.” And it’s true — from indie gigs to underground collectives, Derby has long been an incubator for independent art and sound. For Rise Again, that ever-changing landscape has provided both fuel and freedom to explore.

His work is fun, bold, and emotionally tuned-in, mirroring the organic way he entered the scene. “I try and make it fun for me and for the people who view my work,” he explains. That approach has helped him carve a niche, working with up-and-coming musicians, brands, and creative collaborators. And while the shoots may look effortless, the craft behind them is the result of dedication, evolution and experimentation.

Editing was once the biggest hurdle. “Pointing a camera and photographing is one part,” he admits. “But editing at the start was hard. It got easier over time, but there were also times where it got too much.” Now, having developed his own presets and colour techniques, he’s thriving — particularly in areas like product photography, where those post-production choices can elevate a simple bottle into a striking visual campaign.

Stylistically, Rise Again Photography refuses to stand still. “I just try new ideas all the time,” he says. “When I have an idea I will try and make it work no matter what. Sometimes I can’t let go of an idea — but I guess that’s why and how I’ve improved over time.” Currently experimenting heavily with colour and contrast, his latest edits have a cinematic edge that feels both spontaneous and refined.

Inspiration, too, comes from the grassroots up. “There’s a few photographers out there I like looking at their work from time to time,” he says, “but I try and make every project as fun as possible.” YouTube plays a part in his process, offering new techniques and insights. “I see how other photographers take shots and it makes me wanna try stuff — and it sort of goes from there.”

A major recent highlight came with the release of a vinyl sleeve for Derby band Outergods, featuring his work front and centre. “Just seeing it in physical form got me hyped,” he beams. “I get the same buzz from seeing my work posted on the net or on billboards. I really appreciate it when people want to use my work.” It’s that same humility and drive that makes Rise Again stand out — never about ego, always about impact.

His current projects reflect a growing reputation among indie brands and commercial clients. “I’m currently working on some product photography stuff for Dr Geds,” he says. “Once that’s done I’m shooting the new bottles for Cremura.” Whether it’s a studio-lit still life or a behind-the-scenes gig shot, his ability to shape atmosphere through lens and light is earning attention.

What does he want viewers to take away from his work? “Honestly, I just want people to enjoy what I photograph and create,” he says. “People don’t even have to know it’s by me — as long as they think it’s a cool image, I’m happy.” That quiet confidence runs through his photography — images that speak for themselves, rooted in a sense of place and personality.

For those seeking a creative kick or visual refresh, Rise Again Photography is absolutely one to watch. His advice to aspiring artists? “Take your time, and enjoy it. Learn and try something new. Too many people rush their creativity and it gets lost. If you want a real impact, take your time and develop your skills carefully.”
