Meryl Streek Is Bringing His Explosive Live Show to Derby This November

Irish punk artist Meryl Streek is heading to Derby this autumn, bringing his confrontational mix of spoken word, electronica and punk to The Hairy Dog on Friday 27 November 2026.

The show is a collaboration between The Indie Night and Off Axis, with KEZ and Death of the High Street completing a three-act bill packed with punk attitude, social commentary and plenty of energy.

Streek arrives in Derby following the release of his acclaimed album Songs For The Deceased and with an increasingly impressive live reputation. He has shared stages with Kneecap, Public Image Ltd, Dead Kennedys, Bob Vylan and Enter Shikari, putting him alongside artists who similarly aren’t afraid to make some noise about the world around them.

Punk, politics and spoken word

Meryl Streek doesn’t fit particularly neatly into a single genre. Punk provides much of the attitude, but electronic production, samples and spoken word are equally important to his sound.

His music tackles politics, corruption, inequality and wider social issues head-on, delivered with an intensity that has helped him build an audience well beyond his native Dublin. That combination should translate particularly well to the close surroundings of The Hairy Dog, where there isn’t much distance between the stage and the crowd.

KEZ and Death of the High Street join the bill

Joining Streek are KEZ, who combine sharp social commentary with infectious rhythms and a reputation for chaotic, high-energy live shows. It’s an obvious pairing, with both artists approaching politically and socially conscious alternative music from slightly different directions.

Completing the bill are Death of the High Street, winners of Best Indie Rock Act at the 2026 Radio Wigwam Awards. Blending post-punk, indie and alternative influences, they add another dimension to a night that stretches considerably further than straightforward punk.

There is a common thread running through all three acts, but enough difference between them to make this feel like a deliberately assembled bill rather than three bands simply sharing a stage.

The Indie Night and Off Axis join forces

The gig also sees The Indie Night and Off Axis collaborating to bring the show to Derby. Both are already active around independent and grassroots music, and promoters working together can open the door to more interesting bookings while introducing their respective audiences to artists they might otherwise miss.

With Meryl Streek at the top of the bill and The Hairy Dog providing appropriately alternative surroundings, this feels like a particularly good match between artist and venue.

Tickets are already on sale using a tiered system, with a limited number of Early Bird tickets from £10, followed by Tier One tickets from £12 and general sale tickets from £15.
