FUSE Brings Three Emerging Heavy Bands to Derby’s Victoria Inn This September

Derby’s grassroots heavy scene gets another addition this September as Alpha Pro Creative and Fuzz Music Services join forces for FUSE, bringing Neurosys, Setrakain and Dissociates to The Victoria Inn.

Taking place on Friday 11 September, FUSE puts three emerging Midlands bands on the same bill, spanning metalcore, alternative rock, grunge and some considerably harder-to-define corners of heavy music.

Heading to Derby from Ashfield, Nottinghamshire are Neurosys, a five-piece metalcore band pulling influences from the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Lamb of God and Gojira.

The band actually made their live debut within Derby’s heavy scene before branching out into Nottingham. Their first single, ‘Headache’, arrived in January 2026 and the band have spent the months since developing their sound, with more new music expected around September.

Expect crushing vocals, big guitars and a sound Neurosys are attempting to make increasingly their own as the band continue to build a following across the region.

Joining them are Buxton five-piece Setrakain, who describe themselves as “Maniacal Metal” and combine melodic and growled vocals with dirty, hypnotic and suitably headbang-inducing instrumentation.

There’s a strong sense of community behind Setrakain too. Their message is aimed firmly towards the outsiders, weirdos and anyone who has ever felt slightly defective, summed up nicely by the band themselves: “We’re all defective, come with us…”

Completing the bill are one of the youngest bands currently making noise around Derby.

Dissociates are an alternative rock band from the city whose members are all just 16 years old. Despite their age, they’re already regularly gigging around Derby and neighbouring cities with their own original material.

Their sound sits somewhere between the grunge of Alice In Chains and Nirvana and a newer generation of heavier alternative bands including Wunderhorse and Bleech 9:3. For anyone interested in seeing what the next wave of Derby’s alternative scene might look like, they’re definitely one to catch early.

Supporting Grassroots Bands Directly

There’s another important part to FUSE beyond the lineup.

All three bands are playing on a door split, meaning they receive a share of ticket sales rather than simply turning up to play for exposure. Neither the promoters nor The Victoria Inn take commission from artist merchandise sales either, meaning buying a ticket, grabbing a shirt or picking something up from a band’s merch table directly supports the artists on stage.

It’s a small grassroots show with three emerging bands from Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, affordable tickets and money actually making its way back to the musicians.

That sounds like a pretty good reason to get yourself down.
