Brighton five-piece Canned Pineapple are heading to Derby this autumn, with The Indie Night bringing the emerging scuzz-pop outfit to The Vic Inn on Friday 6 November 2026.

Joining them are Derby bands The Blooms and Derventio, creating a three-band bill that combines one of the UK’s rising guitar acts with talent from Derby’s own alternative scene.

Canned Pineapple arrive following the release of their second EP, Big Break. Their self-described “scuzz-pop” mixes scrappy guitars, power-pop melodies and psychedelic influences, earning support from BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X, BBC Introducing, Clash, Dork, So Young and Rolling Stone UK.

The band have also been building a reputation on the road, playing across the UK and Europe as well as heading to New York, with festival appearances including The Great Escape, Truck Festival and Y Not Festival. Their latest EP was produced by Tom Rees, whose credits include Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, The Bug Club and Panic Shack.

Main support comes from The Blooms, a Derby five-piece combining big indie riffs with influences stretching from the garage-rock revival through to modern bands such as Wunderhorse. Their debut EP Reminisce has already received support from BBC Introducing East Midlands.

Opening the night are fellow Derby band Derventio, bringing their alternative rock sound to The Vic and completing another strong local bill from The Indie Night.

It is exactly the kind of booking grassroots venues are made for. Canned Pineapple are gathering momentum nationally, while two Derby bands get the opportunity to play alongside them. Catching bands on the way up in rooms like The Vic is often far more exciting than waiting until they are playing stages ten times the size.

Tickets are available now via Skiddle.
