The Bad Flower Burlesque Revue Brings a Night of Nerdlesque to Derby

Movies, comic books, video games and musicals are getting the burlesque treatment in Derby this September as The Bad Flower Burlesque Revue returns for its third edition.

Taking over Chapel Street Arts Centre on Saturday 12 September, Derby’s own queen of cabaret Fleur du Mal is bringing together performers from across the East Midlands for a special celebration of pop culture through burlesque, drag and live entertainment.

This time around, the Revue is diving headfirst into the world of nerdlesque, taking recognisable characters and scenes from across pop culture and transforming them into something considerably more risqué.

Expect everything from movies and comics to gaming and musicals to make an appearance, although probably not quite as their creators originally imagined them.

Joining Fleur du Mal is Ebony Silk, bringing caramel burlesque beauty from the North East, alongside Talia Tease, whose performances combine iconic characters with a suitably mischievous streak.

Bella’s Bombshells bring their combination of teasing and style to the bill, while Loki Lavender adds a suave dose of trickery and New Romantic flair.

Rounding things out is Coffin Goblin, described as Nottingham’s most notorious goblin, which frankly feels like enough of a reason to be intrigued on its own.

Holding the whole thing together will be local burlesque villainess Fleur du Mal, returning as host for another evening celebrating the colourful, creative and slightly stranger side of Derby’s entertainment scene.

Whether you’re into burlesque, drag, gaming, comics or simply fancy seeing some familiar pop culture put through a completely different filter, this one should be worth a look.

The Bad Flower Burlesque Revue 3 takes place at Chapel Street Arts Centre, Derby, on Saturday 12 September from 7pm. The event is strictly 18+. Tickets are available here.
